Our Focus

We take a holistic approach to mental health care at Prairie Wellness. We use science-informed, evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR and we may incorporate mindfulness training, yoga, and other activities in your wellness plan, if that’s right for you. Our specialties include:

Excessive worry, rumination, compulsions, tension, tightness, stomach aches, headaches, and sleepless nights can all be signs of an anxiety disorder.  At Prairie Wellness, we  specialize in treating  generalized anxiety,  OCD,  social anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, and other anxiety  disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and other proven practices to reduce the suffering anxiety causes.  Contact us today to schedule your first appointment.

Those of us who experience low mood may feel sad, unmotivated, or disconnected from life.  We can have trouble concentrating or making decisions. We may lose interest in things that used to make us happy.  We might not be able to experience joy or laugh like we used to. We’re often easily irritated.  We sleep and eat too much – or not enough. We can be highly self-critical and critical of others.  Sometimes even the simplest things, like taking a shower or calling a friend, are too much.  Whether your depression is chronic, seasonal, hormonal, or episodic, it’s difficult to manage alone.  The clinicians at Prairie Wellness are trained in evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy to help you improve your mood.  Contact us today to learn more.

Whether you experienced trauma as a child, or later in life, lived through a traumatic event, or work in a field that regularly exposes you to traumatic situations, trauma can have a significant impact on your sense of safety and wellbeing.  Therapists at Prairie Wellness use Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing(EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and other evidence-based interventions to help you heal the wounds that trauma causes.  Contact us today for more information.

Life can feel out of control or off balance when we’re constantly stressed. We may experience stress-related symptoms like anxiety, frustration, irritation, anger, depression, high blood pressure, headaches, trouble sleeping, or GI problems. Too much stress can strain our relationships at home  and work, exacerbate chronic health conditions, and lead to disordered eating or the misuse of drugs or alcohol. Learn to transform your relationship to stress with therapy or take our next Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction™ or The Mindful Way through Stress and Worry class. Contact us today to get started.

Our relationships with others can bring us great joy and deep sorrow. So much suffering comes when we try to hold on too tight, control things, or push people away before they leave us. Or we might find ourselves in a toxic relationship and need help finding our way out.  At Prairie Wellness, you’ll learn how to identify and break destructive relationship patterns, set firm boundaries, and resolve issues with family members, partners, coworkers, and friends. Dealing with a demanding boss or difficult co-workers? We can help with that, too. Contact us today.

Whether you’re mourning the loss of someone close to you or grieving over one of the many changes life brings, you don’t need to do it alone. We’ll be there along side you as you find your way through grief, loss, and difficult life transitions. We also provide support for parents struggling with fertility issues or mourning the death of a child.   Contact us today for help.
